Web Developer (Part Time) |

Position Summary
Designs, develops, maintains, troubleshoots and implements web based software applications utilizing HTML, PHP and JavaScript programming languages.
Key Position Responsibilities
- Evaluates requests for new or modified web based computer programs to determine feasibility, cost and time required, compatibility with current system, and computer capabilities.
- Evaluates and revises program code to adhere to web standards (HTML 4, CSS 2.0, PHP 5.5).
- Consults with users and/or IS Manager to identify current operating procedures and clarify program objectives.
- Converts project specifications into sequence of detailed instructions and logical steps for coding into language processable by computer.
- Prepares flowcharts and logic diagrams as needed to illustrate sequence of steps the programs must follow and to describe logical operations involved.
- Formulates plans outlining steps required to develop programs.
- Enters program codes into computer system. Enters commands into computer to run and test program.
- Analyzes, reviews, and alters program to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
- Replaces, deletes, or modifies code to correct errors.
- Designs HTML screen displays, report formats, database files and other application segments to accomplish the goals of the user request.
- Reads computer printouts or observes display screen to detect syntax or logic errors during program test, and/or uses diagnostic software to detect errors.
- Writes documentation for and comments in program code to describe program development, logic, coding, and corrections.
- Trains users to use programs and provides technical assistance.
- Installs and tests program; monitors performance of program after implementation.
- Reads manuals, periodicals, and technical reports to learn ways to develop programs that meet user requirements.
Position Requirements
Required
High School diploma or GED; and has or is pursuing an Associate's degree in computer science or related field; and has received a passing grade in the following college classes: HTML, PHP and JavaScript; ; and has developed interactive web sites that access back end databases either commercially, personally, or as a part of college coursework.
Preferred
Has or is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; experience using and developing relational databases; familiarity with search engine optimization (SEO) techniques; experience with Apache and IIS Web server configurations with integrated Zend PHP environment; knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, Telnet, SSH, SSL and SMTP.
